What’s the movie about?
Mitch Buchannon (Dwayne Johnson) has his hands full as the charismatic leader of a team of lifeguards. One new recruit in particular worries him: Matt Brody (Zac Efron) was once an Olympic swimmer, but was banned after a sensational incident. Now Mitch has to add him to his team as a PR measure, even though he doesn’t like the rebellious youngster at all. Summer (Alexandra Daddario), on the other hand, is quite taken with the newcomer – and not just on a purely professional level. Colleagues Stephanie (Ilfenesh Hadera), Ronnie (Jon Bass) and C.J. (Kelly Rohrbach) are also struggling not only with the waves, but also with private problems and a love affair or two. But all that soon has to be brushed aside, because when Mitch and Matt get on the trail of a criminal conspiracy that threatens their beach, they have to function perfectly as a team…
