What’s the movie about?
Mia (Emma Stone) is a passionate actress who is looking for her fortune in Los Angeles. Sebastian (Ryan Gosling) also wants to make his breakthrough there, but not as an actor, but as a musician who wants to inspire people of the 21st century for traditional jazz. Mia and Sebastian have to scrape by with side jobs to make a living – she works in cafés, he sits at the keyboard in clubs like Boss’ (J.K. Simmons). After they meet in front of the piano and eventually become a couple, they give each other strength. From now on, the two of them work together to make it big. But Mia and Sebastian soon discover that their efforts also demand sacrifices and put their relationship to the test. Is Sebastian betraying himself by playing music he doesn’t like in Keith’s (John Legend) band? And can’t Mia learn her lines on tour with her boyfriend, or does she really have to stay in L.A. for that?
