What’s the movie about?
At the end of the 1970s, businessman Irving Rosenfeld ran a number of laundrettes in New York quite legally, but his main sources of income were decidedly illegal. Together with his partner and lover Sydney Prosser, he sells fake works of art and cheats people who are in extreme financial difficulties by charging them high fees for allegedly arranging a loan. After the ambitious FBI agent Richie DiMaso finds out about them and arrests them, he offers them a deal. They are supposed to expose the politician Carmine Polito as corrupt. But quickly the matter grows over their heads and soon the mafia gets involved.
